Private Repository On Github is free for all the users

There is a piece of happy news for all the developers and students across the world. The tech giant Microsoft has announced that all the users can now create an unlimited private repository on Github without paying any cost. This feature also allows us to create Github pages within a private repository. But there are also certain limitations to the free accounts. You can only add up to 3 collaborators for a private account. However, there won’t be any change in the public account.

Github also announced that there will be a change in the name from “Github” to “Github pro”. This allows the people to identify the change in its features and benefits.

Github alternatives, the so-called competitors were surprised of this Github release. But CEO of Gitlab Sid Sijbrandij says,” GitHub today announced the launch of free private repositories with up to three collaborators. GitLab has offered unlimited collaborators on private repositories since the beginning. We believe Microsoft is focusing more on generating revenue with Azure and less on charging for DevOps software. At GitLab, we believe in a multi-cloud future where organizations use multiple public cloud platforms.”

More updates will be released soon. So stay tuned.
